I love the texture of the wool, I love stroking it, following the raised contours. My inspiration is making it. I HAVE to be making something. I HAVE to be engaged in a process, I feel distressed when I’m not.
Form, colour and texture all interest me enormously. The process of tufting and carving wool into three dimensional forms can be such a mental and physical workout, it’s like therapy for my mind and abs! The colour and shape from various agate and geode rock forms give me a starting point to expand upon, two dimensions become three.
My favourite wool comes from New Zealand, I prefer to use wool where I can, as the texture feels more earthy and organic, plus as a rug it wears better.
